best reel for the job?

hi guys, got a new ugly stick boat rod 12/20 class and looking for suitable reel ,i have penn 320gt2 but seems a bit big for this rod .need something smaller with a good retrive ,any advise welcome . thank damian

Diawa saltist 20 or 30, both Awesome reels.

tanx sod what price range ar ye looking at for them, i have an abu 6500 but only ever used on beach ,was thinking of loading 30lb braid on and using that! wat u think

200 euro plus for the saltist, quality comes at a price. your abu 6500 should be up to the job, but ive not realy used one boat fishing so cant give a definite answer.

Hi a shimano tld 15 would work nice with your rod sterryman from this site has brand new ones in the box for 100 each Great reel i use a tld 20 with my ugly stick braid 20-30

Your 320GTI is fine but you could try some of the following for your 12/20lb class rod:
Daiwa SLOSH 20/30 Penn 535, Abu 7000.

You could use these for your (heavy)beach fishing and your boat fishing also.

tld 15 way to big for the rod, now if you could get your hands on a tld 5 you would be sorted.

your 6500 would be ok, but a sl20 would be nicer with a faster retreive :wink:

got to agree with bigsod slosh 30 will do the trick.

I would go for the slosh 20 or 30. Great for light boat and heavy beach.
