Clare 28/03/2010

#1 Post by Conger »

People: Me & Bassmania

Duration: 12pm to 6pm

Tide: Incoming

Weather: Fine & Calm

Bait: Lug & Sandeel

Rigs: Various

Results: Bassmania - 1 Flounder, Me - Starfish !!!!! does that save a blank :D :D

Report: Headed off this morning to get fresh lug, got some great sized lug and headed off to mark full of optimism :? :? Everything looked perfect. Bassmania set out 2 rods varying the distance both with 2 hook flappers, i set out 3 rods with pennels and 2 hook flappers again varying the distance. Out beyond use there was a huge amount of cormorants doing their thing and definately not blanking, thinking of trying to catch one of those beggars like the add and use him on a tether :D :D :D :D about an hour into the session Bassmania caught a lovely sized flounder, i could still be there casting and still not be catching. About 2 hours before the top of the tide we made a call and headed off to a rock mark of my choosing   The less said about my special rock the better. We both fished 2 rods each and again varied the distances during the session but nothing took the bait except my little starfish, which i believe saves my blank   :D :D 2 things came out of this session, 1) i am absolutely banned from selecting fishing spots and 2) if you stop and fish and mark that is visible from the road about 10 other people think that the fishing is good and set up :D :D They should have asked   All in all a poor session but it was great to get out hopefully will be out again soon

Regards

Seamus

The starfish was so small  it could have being a little barnickle - a really small one  . I don't want to over emphasize how small it was  but I think size does matter to some

I'm constantly learning from seamus' fishing techniques. As bad as the fishing got yesterday, I would never have thought of fishing for Starfish or what ever it was - a true fisherman

    yep,, things are bad when a starfish is the highlight of the session   we were out for 6 fishless hours last night and a starfish or crab would have been a welcome sight        . but don't loose hope as things will improve soon enough
