that's not a fish, a star fish is not a fish because it is an ''echinoderm''. It is an ''echinoderm'' because its body is divided into five parts and it has a spiny outer covering. It only is called a star''fish'' because it lives in water. Google for it. 8) to find out all the scientific facts and stuff... :)

There you go Seamus, now you know :)

Didnt put up too much of a report because I was told a few days after i put up the pollock report a few weeks ago that a boat was seen netting the area and took a few loads of pollock on each trip

So I reckon my big mouth has spoiled the easy fishing there for some time to come,

I would advise anyone interested in returning to a mark with good fishing not to pin point it for the netters,

I have been warned about this in the past but didn’t think they would go after the Pollock there because of the rough ground,

Seems that the netters today are not as good at finding fish as we are, so they sit back and let us do the leg work

Same thing happened to another Ray mark last year, I returned to it after catching a few a couple of weeks before and blanked, so I asked around and found that this area also had been cleaned out, :(

So I hope you forgive me for not helping them out this season

i think its the worst thing anyone could do is to name a mark on this site there was a east coast ray mark named in a report over the summer and it pist me and alot of other people of you should of seen the place for a week after you couldnt get a spot on the beach we will just have to wait and see what the trawlers have dun to it

fully agree Shane, PM only and in strictest confidence, too much eavesdropping behind the scenes, sign of the times unfortunately

Its not just this site that’s being watched, I see some sites wont let you into there catch reports until you have 50 posts or reports up but that only slows them down and I’m sure it wont stop them,

I feel I’m throwing a spanner in the works by saying this, but a lot of the lads that go netting enjoy fishing as we do and are already putting in reports of there catch’s for years on many fishing sites,
so they will be classed as they will have full access to all reports and can tell there netting partners / friends what’s happening and where, this is why I say the 50 posts idea is good and bad, as it may make some folk think the info will only be read by like minded people,

And I agree that PM’S are the safest way to let your friends know

Mann, a fair few marks down that way were netted and produced very few ray last year. One of the good wrasse marks was also destroyed by a netter collecting potbait.

Mann,
Conger and I were contacted recently for a mark (were Pm'd) and we advised of a certain location that ended up fishing very well ( better than it did for us!!!) but in celebration, posted a photo of the location resulting in the area now being fished to death and the rest is history.

I have no doubt the intentions were good and there was no malice in the report but it is what it is.......................

I think i know the mark you speak of, again I fished there about a week or so after it was cleaned out and ended up with one small pollock for 2 people fishing, we heard later that it was netted :x

Thanks, they look much bigger in the pic's then there actual size, the bigger of the two was 4lb 2oz and the little fella that felt like i was going to make history with because of the power it had put into the fight was only 1lb 6oz... reason he had so much power was the line had wrapped around its tail

Hi Bassmania,
In a strange way i was happy to see this because I will be pointing out a couple of marks to Conger so now he knows to keep the camera low and facing downward

While I know that all this is nothing new to most anglers on here I’m still happy to have posted it as it will serve as a reminder to those that knew and put others wise to what’s going on, 8)

Well Anthony

How they hangin dude, I drove past your place the weekend but it was late and I didn’t want to have your Mrs throwing pots and pans at me for dragging you out of the warm bed to go fishing

There’s a bit of a blow during the week and when that passes over I will bring the boat down to make up for not knocking your door on the way past,

2 things stopped me calling at yours that night… 1, I could have been badly wounded from a flying missile… 2, the last time we went out you caught more ray then me, I think it was 3 to 1

I printed out a few score cards to use when we are out in the boat, this will pay for the petrol each time I win… this is going to be a cheap summer for me :D :D :D
