gordy and rogers not so bogus little journey 27-3-10

#1 Post by roger de dodger »

People:gordy defella and me(cw1 was down to)

Duration:6 till 10

Tide:hw 9

Weather:nice and warm no wind ans a crackin surf

Bait:rag lug razor

Rigs:3 hook flaps and pulleys

Results:35 ish bass ,6 codling ,7 whiting ,some flounder to 28cm not sure how many gordy and defella got am and a few coalies aswell

Report:after our last trip to darkest wexford not turning up one bass we decided to head to a wicklow strand for some more local fishing ,the lads where set up and had already got a few fish when i arrived ,the surf was huge considering it wasnt windy at all :?: must have eased in the late afternoon 8) from the first cast to the last we had nearly a fish a cast and where kept busy all night ,big baits on pennels didnt produce any whoppers at distance or any decent codling but at least we had fun with the little uns hopping of our baits, rag outfished lug by miles for me with lug only taking two bass and a few whiting,
hi to cw1 (john )who was down the other end of the beach to me and came over to say yellow :) nice to meet a new site member i,m sure we will see more of you down wickla way over the summer 8)
i think gordy is gonna get some chest waders soon not a nice feeling as the water hits your feet and reaches your waist under your jacket when you have thigh waders on   burrrrrrrr

on my three hook flap i used rag and lug and even changed the rag from top to bottom to middle for each cast and rag outfished the lug by miles the whiting and codling went for the lug but the bass homed in on the rag  i had two trebles with bass on rag and codling and whiting on lug so i supose they both fished well

Howdy,
New to the site. Great fishing lads. Thought I recognised the pebbles in your pics  so I headed out there this evening. No surf but still managed a couple of bass @ 26cm and 30cm. Next time you should move all the little stones out of the frame.

the gripper means you dont touch the fish, do less damage to its slime and can unhook them with less stress ,try putting your thumb in a small ones mouth along with a size 1 hook! the gripper does no damage what so ever or i woudnt use it !
