South Beach Greystones

Tide: Low-18.33(0.7) Full-01.15(3.5).

Weather: A lovely evening with little of no wind, calm sea and quite warm.

Bait: Rag, Mackeral, Sandeel.

Rigs: Two hook clip- down and, up and over wishbone.

Results:
Paul: 15 doggies, 2 dabs, 1 flounder, 1 Coalie
Chris: 7 doggies, 2 plaice, 1 flounder, 2 dabs, 1 whting, 1 sea trout
Anto: 4 doggies
Dad: 4 doggies

Report: Fishing to the right of the driving range, up near the river. The rods were knocking the minute the bait hit the water with rag and rag tipped with mackeral taking most of the fish. Near dark i started fishing for the sea trout that were jumpin and landed a beauty of 2-3 lb. a good nights fishin. [img]http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y291/gitzer/now1117170896364.jpg[/img]

Good stuff! Gorgeous looking fish I have to say.

Sea Trout have a tendency to follow lures without taking them, so keep the retrieve steady, and don't strike into any small plucks. Only strike when you feel the weight of the fish and know it's hooked.

Great result Chris - fair play. I was on North beach next day (just past yacht club) with almost identical setup to yourselves (ie bait and rigs) and blanked completely. Not even a nibble. Rough seas, strong current and NE winds didn't help but I'm not one for excuses :? I always reckoned Greystones beaches and pier fish better at night.

soc, to be honest i have the same feelings as urself and usually only ever fishing greystones in darkness, mostly the pier and north beach gave best reslts and the south beach never quite producing for us, but lately fishing on the south beach on a evening flooding tide has rewaded us with 40plus fish nearly on every 2-3 hour session.

Great Sea Trout ! Had a go myself on The South Beach Greystones
today 1st June 2005 as follows -

People: me.

Duration: 13:00-20:00.

Tide: HW 20.42

Weather: Warm, slight southerly.

Bait: Spinning only - 10grm. silver/green mini-pirken



Results:
7 Coalies
1 Pollock
6 Launce - 2 foul hooked.

Report: Fishing near the river. Missed some PLUCKING bites possibly sea trout. Coalies gave good scrap on light spinning gear.
Saw several sea trout jump. Terns and Gannets going mad!
Coalies and Pollock released but kept Launce for a bash at some Ray.

I was fishing between the Big Stream and the Little Stream. Tried further
south but moved back when I saw Sea Trout jumping in the area between the streams.

no, i was fishing between the 2nd river and the point, didnt arrive till 7ish, i didnt notice u as i was walking down, had 1 about a pound or so about 100 yards before the point, plenty jumping along the 2nd river..i should be down there again this evening..

Weather: Warm, S/W freshening.

5 Coalies
1 Mackerel first from The East Coast, 2005 Season!
2 Launce

Report:
Started fishing near the little river and worked my way south towards Ballygannon. Best fishing early drop near Ballygannon.
No sea trout and none showing. A big seal way was working it's way up and down close in.
Got my first East Coast Mackerel of 2005 season on light Spin Gear!
