Results: ME: 7 flounder and 1 plaice JORDAN: 7 flounder and 1 whiting
Report: after my session during the week and getting the sea trout jordan was getting withdrawls and was in need of a fishing fix. so a dawn raid was on the cards and a flattie session plan was hatched. the flatties seem to be the only fish around in good numbers at the moment so me and a very groggy jordan hit the road at 1am and were set up and fishing by 2am. the bites were coming thick and fast from the start all the way through to the finish nothing of any great size but plenty to keep the rod tips twitching away all night (or morning, depending on how you look at it). we had an impromptue flounder comp with jordan taking the lead and me playing catch up with only one fish in it between us the entire session great fun even if there was nothing of any real size to talk of. we seem to be stuck at the 30cm size limit with them at the minute, and breaking that was our target, but no luck this time. but it could be worse, we could have blanked as god only knows there's plenty of blanking doing the rounds at the minute . but we ended in a draw with the flounder count standing at 7 each and jordan got the biggest fish to round the session off at just 1cm short of the unbreakable 30cm.

Great session again lads and you deserve it for putting in them hours! Are the flatties showing in daylight hours mate? Probably a very stupid question seeing the hours you fished for them! lol.
well done lads, I cannot connect with those flat fellas at all this year, havin a good run with them bass gits, but no flounder!! Been chasing em for months now.. yis'll have to tell me your tricks to it
2016: dogfish, pollack,
2015: whiting, coalfish, turbot, pollack, ballan wrasse, conger, thornback, short spined sea scorpion , common blenny ,
Nice going guys, a wee mini comp is always good craic. I bet you had to drag Jordan out at that time. I can only remember half of that night mate, would have been some going if I had have met up after a messy night out

thanks eoin, we did'nt bother to get any pics of the plaice or whiting as both of them were under 10cms

cheers rab. chances of daytime catches are a bit thin on the ground. far better off waiting until after 6pm before even bothering to go out. it will increase you chances of catching ten fold

we'd happily trade in all those flatties for just one silver fella daire . but sadly our chances of getting one up here are somewhere between lucky and very bloody lucky

ahh,,, noel you're like the wee fishing devil sitting on my shoulder whispering ""ahh, go on al.. surely you could justify another wee west coast trip " . leave it with me and i'll see what i can re-arrange . i'm trying to save a few pennies to get jordan down to st. mullins for the twaite shad run. not long to go now and jordan will be off school for the may bank holiday. poor wee mite has missed all the west coast trips so far over the last few months.

good luck with the prospecting brian, every time i think i'm gonna be able to get back out on the rocks the weather takes a turn for the worse and i have to abort the trips . as game as i am, i'm not daft enough to head out to slippy rock marks on my own after a bit of rain . you could easy take your life in your hands, espically when you're on your own
