Strangford Lough (Portaferry Area) 21-03-2010

#1 Post by rab01 »

People:Myself

Duration:7am-8.30am

Tide:low

Weather:overcast

Bait:Spinner

Rigs:

Results:1 Seatrout

Report:Another trip to Strangford Lough and another trout, the place is fishing well. Had to stop early as the wind got so strong and was blowing full on in my face, was very difficult to throw a light lure in those conditions. Still happy enough to get my trout. :)

Caught him on the Jenson Seatrout lure, my lucky lure at the moment Al. Let me know if you fancy a crack at Portaferry chum.

Bubba I've caught them up to 6lb weight but the ones from 1-2lb weight are great fun with their acrobatics! Hopefully the bigger trout that are in the Lough will turn up soon. Sandeel can be a deadly bait on its day but I love to lure fish for them.

Rab,

How do you fish the sandeel for trout? Behind a bubble float?

Nobuzz, just use the sandeel like you would use a lure only with a slower retrieve. Although I'm no expert on this method. Trout generally like the movement.
