Re Single Rod Stand

Hi Lads

Looking for a single rod stand, have used sand spikes and a cheapy type tripod with just a rod holder on top, i am looking to find something solid like a proper tripod but for a single rod for those days that 3 rods are put out, have been looking for a while but anything that i have seen hasn't been great. Is it a crazy idea of trying to get someone to try and doctor a sand spike to add 2 legs

You can get ian golds tripods with a single rod holder and cup. I have one but it was given to me so i dont know where it was bought.

ya, iv the ian golds supermatch 6ft, got the extra single head and cup, you can actually put the single head and double head on a the same time, so you can fish 3 rods off the same tripod! I find it very handy

Hi Chris, i've never used an Ian Golds Stand before, i am currently using a Daiwa tripod but you can't get any attachments for it, the idea of using the one stand for the 3 rods sounds a lot better.
Cheers for the advice, was up in Galway recently and took a walk out Salthill, have to say the place was looking well, used to live in Galway for a while and only ever fished Salthill once and managed to break a rod must give it a lash again

well i used to use the mustad delux one, found it way to heavy, awkward and didnt really like it, i find the ian golds one to be light, stable and ass you said, 3 rod on a tripod is way handier then carrying 2 tripods! Salthill hasnt been fishing too well lately..it should pick up a bit again soon though! If your up this way again give me a shout and we will give it a go!

Hi Chris, Previous to the Daiwa stand my friend and myself were using the Mustad stand, absolutely hated it ended up tripping over the yoke one day and damaged the leg, very very awkward stand, definatley will be up that way and will give you a shout in advance to arrange a meet

Both veals and gerrys have them, we use the 6ft supermatch. If i recall correctly, Chris got his from gerrys.

yup i did indeed..they have a decent selection of extras like the single head and cups too
