North Coast Critter Hunt 28/02/10

#1 Post by Drew »

People: David McCormick, Drew

Duration: Hmmm, 6.30pm - 10.30pm

Tide: High

Weather: Flipping lovely!

Bait: Mackeral, Squid

Rigs: Dangling Gear, 2 Hook Clipped

Results: Conger, 3 Bearded Rockling, L.S.Sea Scorpion, Flounder, Whiting, Pollack, Coalies

Report:

Since we didn't get out on the boat yesterday it was decided, though still feeling quite fragile from the fishing club dinner on Friday night to hit the North Coast again in hope of a big rockling.

Baits were lowered gently down the side on the dangling and boat rods and the trap was set. Immediately plagued by hoards of hungry mini coalies which devoured the big baits in a matter of minutes, But still good to see the Rods moving.

I had the Abu Enticer carp rod set up with my Chrome Rocket for dangling down the side, and that's the rod that saw most of the variety for the night, Including a strap, a 1lb3oz 3 Beard, and my first L.S.Sea Scorpian of the year!!!

Had the affinity cast to distance and picked up a flounder and a few whiting on it, all on Mackeral strip.

Meanwhile Davy waded through the masses of whiting and was rewarded with a Rockling of just under specimin size... Once again, close but not Cigar!

We shall perservere and should be back up the coast again this week with Bingham in tow! Will keep you guys posted as to the results!

Nice wee session Drew/Davy, unlucky with the rockling but sounds like there was plenty around to keep you busy.
If I'd know you guys were about I would have came round and said hello, I was out for a walk having a nosey at some new shore marks which hopefully will produce the goods, access to some very deep water
If someone shows you a mark to fish, respect it and dont pass it of as one of your own, dont tell every man and his dog about it.
