#1 Post by irishron40 »

Hi im interested to hear from people that did fit this rubber keelguard on their predator boat.

I considering buying this stuff , but am doubtfull it would work on a predator stern as it very sharp.

Nice one!!
That Keelguard stuff looks interesting. How would it fare being dragged over the rollers of the trailer?
We replaced a keel band on an Orkney years back. We used aluminium strips which we bonded to the hull with PU sealer (Sikaflex or suchlike). Did likewise on a little rib. Anything that would stick would be preferential to screwing into the keel. Any flexibility in the hull tends to elongate the holes and causes problems.

Maybe get a small section and put it on the likely touch-down spot on the bow?

I have Keelguard on a bluntish keel of a 2 tonne RIB and use it over rollers. It is v good and lasts. Have used it on 2 boats. Keelguard is expensive, it is simple to apply and you have to follow the instructions carefully. For the protection that is gives, I think it well worth the $$.

Nice One! I would wager that it would hold in place with high quality sealer/pu adhesive. Especially after keying the surface.

I done the same myself. I added a meter of 25 x 5mm. Just at the bow where she gets scuffed with a touch on the slip. Worked a treat as well.

I'm not sure if this is an option for you Ron. You mentioned that the Keel has quite a point on it.

I didn't drill. I used wood to wedge the aluminum to the Keel. No problems so far.

Silkaflex John..... Still holding no hassle at all, and it's had an odd bump off the slip as I land so it's getting an odd knock or two.

I only put a meter on, just to cover where I touch the bow off a slip as you land.

Guys, how do you find your Predators? Would you recommend them to a newbie thinking of buying his first boat? :?:

Hi

I fitted a rubber Keel Guard to my Warrior 165 and it went on fine, make sure there is no antifoul paint where the guard will stick on and you will have no problems.
