a simple question!!!!!!
what is the difference between a pulley rig and a bolt rig???? ( i know it might be a stupid question) i would say of 80% of my fishing i would use a pulley rig, and a few people have told me that my rigs are "NOT" pulleys but bolt rigs
now my rigs are made up as follows.....
from lead up...clip for weight, length of mono with bead+pulley/slider+bead then swivel and finish off with snood and hook, now to me this is a pulley rig, so what the feck' is a BOLT rig, for these guys are doing my head in big time

Re: a simple question!!!!!!
from my understanding
a bolt rig the hook snood is connected to slide with the lead fixed
and a pulley rig the lead is connected to slide with the hook snood fixed
if you know what i mean.

Re: a simple question!!!!!!
If the rigs you are using at the minute are working for you then just stick with them and don't change them.
I've never heard of a bolt rig myself, it sounds nuts to me!!!

Re: a simple question!!!!!!
looked it up on google, a bolt rig is used in carp fishing!!!!!!!!!!!!!
its basically just a running ledger, so how these guys came to the conclusion that my pulley rig was actually a bolt rig is beyond me
( mental note......don't listen to D**KHEADS)

I use bolt rigs when fishing for carp and tench. The hook length and weight are fixed not a running ledger. When the fish takes the bait it feels the weight and bolts ( hence the name ) and the fixed lead which is usually quite heavy sets the hook.
Your rig definately sounds like a pully to me too mate

Dead right. Bolt rigs are used for carp or barbel, it is a fixed lead, usually with some kind of breakout system so if the fish snags the lead gives way and the fish isn't tethered to the bottom. The lead causes the fish to self hook on bolting.JAMMYJOEY wrote:I use bolt rigs when fishing for carp and tench. The hook length and weight are fixed not a running ledger. The main principle of the pulley rig is that the weight of a hooked fish pulls the lead above its self when fighting and in theory is less likely to snag during the fight.
Your rigs sound like pullies to me, and like you Ifish mainly pullies.
The Truth is often stumbled upon by men, most of whom pick themselves up and hurry along as if nothing ever happened.
