East Coast Fishin
Lads does anyone know of any good marks along the east coast for a fishing club with 10 members, we have done a lot of beaches along the coast but not much success. Maybe a Rock mark that can accommodate 10 keen fishers. Any info would be much appreciated so thanks in advance

Re: East Coast Fishin
If I were you id stick with the beaches, fishing a comp on rocks sounds like a nightmare. Ennerielly, Arklow, Toberpatrick, Clones, Ballymoney, Courtown e.t.c. are some good beaches along the coast if you try and fish the comps on good tides and into darkness im sure the numbers of fish will increase.

Scotsmans Bay in Sandycove could accomodate 10 anglers. You won't catch loads, you'll loose plenty of gear, but you have a genuine chance of catching a big cod (5lb +).

Re: East Coast Fishin
the rocks in killiney offer comfortable roughground fishing will accomodate ten of you easily.I do well out of there every year around late summer with bass doggies resident cod and monster wrasse all on the cards. Wouldnt be fishing too well this time of year but well worth a try around august/sept when the area comes into its own with top class sport over the kelp and reefs ..

Re: East Coast Fishin
go for it, the match scene could do with a few more rough ground venues, only problem is trying to find the venues
heres a few i can think of. lets us know how you could get on
like alby said scotsmans bay over low water could fish very well, try it when the water warms up a bit, youl get codling, decent wrasse, pollock, rockling, dogs and who knows maybe even a strap or huss
klimichael point might be worth a shot, should be plenty of dabs, whiting, small codling and dog and smoothies in summer.
the back of dunlaoghaire harbour, not striclty a rock mark, but the fishing can be good, rough ground in close clearing to sand at distance, easily fit 10 anglers along it.
greystones rocks, by la touche. from the harbour to south beach. chance of a decent plaice in season, loads of flats, dogs and small rounds.
the safe in rosslare, dogs, straps, wrasse, flats and small rounds.
if you could get permission to fish roadstone pier in arklow that would be interesting to see what it throws up.

Re: East Coast Fishin
Sorry I think i misunderstood the question
I thought of fishing off rocks rather than into rock
I think it would make for an interesting comp with some better fishing in rough ground alright the rough ground in Killiney would be a good choice ive caught some decent codling, pollock and bass from there prepare to loose gear though.

Fisherman's prayer:
God grant that I may live to fish, For another rainy day.
But when my final cast is made, I then most humbly pray.
When nestled in your landing net, As I lay peacefully asleep.
You'll smile at me and judge, That I'm "good enough to keep"!

no body fishes this mark, its very rough ground and doesnt really fit the mackerel brigade's idea of what a fishing venue is. if youve ever seen pictures in sea anger of 'north east cod marks' its basically identical. i fished it a couple of times and got plenty of small wrasse and pollock. theres a spot i fish round the corner from it called the 40 foot where ive had a few good codling up to 4lb and my only ever shore caught ling, only the coucil banned fishing from it so i reckon il be trying scotsmans a bit this year. i'd stick to the waterford harbour though mate, much better chance there and you wont loose gear.
