i plan to change to braid on a fixed spool and wondered what length should the leader be to the lure.also does the same set up work on a multiplier ..I usually use 12lb mono (as i often hook a lot of green weed where i fish)but cant cast lures much lighter than 18g .would braid help with this ,
thanks,k.

Re: leaders for braid
i use about 3 ft of leader mate not much needed joined to 30lb braid a lad that i fish with doesin like using a leader so its up to your self.Braid has a lot of benfits over mono instant contact with your lure and the higher b/s line means you have a better chance of gettin any snagged lures back
hope this helps

The mono. Each time (3) it was with a mag popper/plug. Some sort of whiplash effect I guess.bigballs wrote:was your knot breakin mate or the line hasnt happened to me YET

Re: leaders for braid
If you are using an albright knot then the knot gives way of its own accord after awhile. Better off with the reverse albright.

Re: leaders for braid
10/12lb braid is very thin mate braid is not as tough as mono any nik or rub on a rock and it will break easily
better to use 20/30lb braid and the same leader florocarbon i have never found it to spook the fish

Re: leaders for braid
Just a few feet is all you need to give a bit of a cushion against the non-stretch braid.
As you say, just keeping an eye out for frays.
Thanks but no need, straight through working fine for me - got me a 7lb bass.bigballs wrote:
