Century rods love them or hate them?

At the suggestion of various members and given the magazines will run a mile from criticising a piece of kit, here is your chance to tell us what you really think about a rod, reel, line, lure... keep it legal please!

it stems back to the late 80s early 90s , i personally broke and seen many brake , so you will find the newer generation of rods very good and that they have a following of younger anglers / casters .

Century have come a long way in the last few years, only half the amount of brakages these days but thats still half more than zzipys 8) there used to be a saying back in the 90,s "Century rods, sure they always break there"

Personally i dont like them,
(no1) for the customer service "attitude" i recieved form there CEO after i broke a mates brand new kompressor grand prix,
(no2) i just dont like the weight or feel of there rods,
the only two i got on with were,,, grey/triple-3 TT-R and the Crest.

A famous Irish wanger once said "the best century rod is a zziplex!!"

Love the Tip Tornado LD. If I had to chose one rod for bait fishing this would be it.
(Was going fo a Zippy Bass but went with the LD in the end)
Also have a TTsport, original one, years old, stood the test of time and going strong.
The 2 lads use the same and havnt had any problem either.

Ive never heard of one breaking.
Were they breaking on the casting court or on the beach?

I have the sre and the ttsm...for some reason I always bring the sre out in windy conditions..the ttsm is a great rod and I was using it on monday night.. tbh i dont really get to use them much because i'm always using the AA Surf!! Just Perfection!.. I am loving the Zziplex HSM though.

official,,,unofficial,,,official!!!
The 1st 300yd cast i ever heard of was done by Sean Neill using a Daiwa WKT-13, (i think?) http://www.ulstercastingclub.org/forum/ ... f=16&t=619 ,, done before Neill kellands but not UKSF rattified!!
I think there was a big row over this at the time, andrew may be able to shed some more light on it, as it was back in the dark ages before my time

its also down to what the tackle shops have in stock over here aswell , alot more century rods available than zziplex so certain areas of the country will use what the local dealer has for sale .
if you want to be individual in your choice of gear in ireland you dont shop in ireland .

I've had a good few Century rods and loved every one of them, very user friendly and a model to suit all types of fishing. They are knocking out some top stuff at the minute and their pricing is very good too.

All that said the new love of my life is the Anyfish Anywhere Tournamment Match, the Finest Fishing Rod I've ever used!

I've had alot of top end rods too but thi sone is just perfect for everything in my opinion.

What are ye doing to century name its the zziplex sindrome people finding it hard to get cast perfected pick up a zip softer more user friendly adds few yards to there cast an they cant let go .I might remind you some of the bast anglers in the country use century rods including our curent captain who won the 2009 master angler in style with a century in hand .I d like to hear coments on century from more compident critics like big danny, andy green ,meckelow.

i actually dont like zziplex all that much, i dont like the hsm despite the fact their more popular than lidle rods these days, i despise the tf 50/50 and consider it the worst rod zziplex ever made, dbrock will agree with me on that one. i still believe for fishing daiwa and conoflex make the best multiplier rods. however im eager to try kstaff aa match if he likes it il probably like it  i dont think ive ever seen jp with a century rod, jp uses zziplex

I presume this is me you are talking about.

Just to put this straight. All my shore rods are ZZiplex.

I had a century tip tornado sport a few years ago and I snapped it casting in the first session I brought it out. Now the remenance of that not so fine rod is in a corner of the shed as a reminder never to purchase such MUCK again.

I know everyone has there different experiences and impressions about different rods and manufactures.

I am happy with ZZiplex although I do have an awful urge to buy the grauvell competition surf for the small stuff.
UP THE DEISE!!!!!!!

If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

I disagree with you here eric. I think the worst zziplex rod ever made by a long way is the 3500.
