Would most of the congers not have moved offshore due to the cold weather and low water temp. I haven't heard of any being taken in the harbour since early december.
Species 2014: whiting, coalie, pouting, codling, pollack, ballan wrasse, dab, poor cod, mackerel, grey gurnard, conger, ling, cuckoo wrasse, launce, common skate, bass, scad, garfish, blue shark

Species 2015: Ballan wrasse, poor cod, pollack, ling, flounder, turbot, mackerel, whiting, lsd, dab, grey gurnard, pouting, cuckoo wrasse, cod

i reckon there might be a few down there, i was there a few weeks back and as i was catching nothing i stuck on a 4/0 and a big lump of mack and put it out about 10 yards from the wall and loosened the drag a little. i was rebaiting the other rod about 10 mins later and noticed some twitches on the conger one, didnt look huge at first, then the line started comming off. by time i grabbed it i was stuck, i couldnt free it so gave it a while but no joy. had to pull out of it.
my own stupidity really, a beach reel loaded with 15lb line isnt exactly conger gear.
