Was just wondering what this lunker was?

I'd say juvenile trout, judging by the adipose fin towards the rear of the back and the red spots below the lateral line. Also the small rounded scales, the plump and forked tail plus the vertical golden stripes would point me in direction trout rather than char (which is very rare here anyway) or salmon.
But I'm no expert, by any means, take it FWIW, rewarding session nonetheless Dave, I always enjoy reading your reports and your remarkably sense of humour, keep up the good work and tight lines always! 8)
