which reel should i get??

#1 Post by markh »

im looking to get a multiplier reel but am unsure what to get can anybody recommend one for me.
it has to be able to handle beach and rock fishing and i would also like it to quite easy to use as i usually use a fixed spool.
price is an issue so nothing really expensive.
thanks for the help

hey, they can be pretty tricky to learn how to use properly. Try and take a cast with one before ya buy one! Although i prefer multipliers myself, lots of people prefer fixed spools! A second hand penn 525 mag would be a good all rounder. There is a second hand one here for sale.http://www.sea-angling-ireland.org/bull ... =a&start=0

Hope this helps

Hi Mark, i am using multis only about 2 years now, i find the penn 525mag extra or the Daiwa Slosh20 are both very good. The slosh you can pick up now at around the 90 yoyo mark. Had always used fixed spool, biggest thing with the multi is practise, practise, practise and more practise :D :D :D :D :D i use not get bird nests i used get ostirch nest :D :D :D but once you get used to them you'll be fine..... you should ask a few more of the more experienced lads for usage advice....

Regards

Hi.The penn 525 super mag is a good starter its very user freindly.I have one about 7 years and I just run it under the tap and its fine .You will get the odd birdie until you get the hang of it .I got a new one few weeks ago over all a very good reel.

The slosh 20 and penn 525 mag are both excelent rells and will cover both clean and rough ground. The slosh wins on price (expect to pay aroun €100) but the 525 is a better casting reel with the magnets giving greater control. You should pick a 525 up for €140.
