Bray Harbour 20-01-10

#1 Post by eyesreilly »

People:me, fishface, big mick

Duration:6-30pm-11pm

Tide:low at 8-45pm

Weather:grand, calm ,got cold later

Bait:lug,mack,squid

Rigs:2 hook flappers

Results:codling, whiting, 5 bearded rockling, flounders and a coalie

Report:Decided late to go to Bray and met up with Neil at 6-30pm, mick arrived about an hour later after breaking a rod with the bootlid  . There were quite a few foreign anglers here, despite all my tiddler reports,,,,or maybe because of them   ,,,,,,,,,but i was able to get past them and set up near the end of the pier. Neil arrived shortly after, followed by Mick. I got a small codling early on,,,,,,,, then things went very slow for the next hour or so then the fish started to bite. At low tide we were getting rockling and flounder, then when the tide turned we started to get codling. Fishface got the biggest codling at 30cms, and also the biggest flounder of the session at 28cms. The other anglers didnt seem to be having much luck but at our end of the pier there were plenty of fish being caught, with some doubles. Neil went off at 10pm but we stayed on another hour. A guy gave me some lug and sandeel as he was heading off, and I was having a reel malfunction moment which involved the 3 of us sorting out a big knotty ball of line,, I didnt get much time to thank him so if hes reading this,,thanks a lot

Glad - no, that's the wrong word, but you know what I mean - I'm not the only one labouring under the Kurse of the F***-Up these days. Went out yesterday for the first time this year and so much went wrong I nearly chucked the gear in the water and went up the village to sign up for crochet classes. Is it that big eclipse last Friday or what?

Sorry ... nice fishin, lads....
