What strength should shockleader be and what sort of knot should be tyed to the rods line.
Also how far onto the reel should it be wound to be ready for casting :?: :?:

Hi Trout Hunter, I usually use 10lb of breaking strength for every oz of weight I'm using e.g 4oz weight no less than 40 lbs strength, 5 oz no less than 50lbs , 6 oz no less than 60lbs etc. As for the length, I usually put on whatever the legth of the rod I'm using is plus half again. I join the shockleader to the main line with a half hitch grinner knot.

general rule is 10lb for every once plus another 10 so for 4oz 50lb shockleader should be used. The length should be the rod length plus around 6-8 turns on the spool, also position the knot to the side of the spool to protect your thumb when casting multiplier only.
