Are any of these anywhere near specimen size?

#1 Post by EPender »

Hows it going. New to the site. Huss and thornback were caught a couple of weeks ago. The thornback looks like it is held out but believe me it is held tight to my chest. The bass was caught today by a friend. All fish were caught on the clare coast. Thanks to Michael Burke for the bait. Are any specimen size or close?

Very nice fish there regardless.

Thornies are a difficult nut to crack, and I don't recall seeing a pic of a specimen on here.

Here is an old boat report of mine. 12.5lb and a 13lb in the pics. It might give you an idea. I'd say you've got a 10lb or close to fish there.

http://www.sea-angling-ireland.org/bull ... lit=Dublin

Bass looks about 7.5lbs and the Huss looks like about 7lb ish.

Well done again.

Hi Roger,

Huss are feckers.... They just don't weight well. This was show to me by Rob when I though I had a very big fish

http://www.sea-angling-ireland.org/bull ... =5&t=22487

I think that fella was 10lb even.

The reason i asked were these specimen is because in the species guide it said a shore caught specimen thornback was 12 lbs. Shore specimen huss is 10lbs and shore caught bass is 10lbs. I know the boat caught specimen weght is heigher.
