Waterfoot Beach

#1 Post by crazyfish1983 »

Hi All

I have read the post from earlier in the week re. Waterfoot pier and it seems to be fishing well at the minute. But I am keen to hit the beach- has anyone fished it recently? and if so which end? I want to fish this mark but on my last planned trip i wasn't fortunate enough to get bait.

Any help is appreciated guys. Cheers

our club had it's christmas comp on the beach at the flat roofed house end on sunday. 24 anglers fished it for 5 hours from low to high tide as it got dark. it was a struggle to get a fish over 20cms    and most that were caught were in the 12 to 20cms bracket    the biggest fish caught was a 28cm flounder caught by minty and it won him the biggest fish pool :P :P . i even resorted to packing away the beachcaster as most of the lads fishing at distance never got a knock. resorted to breaking out the wee spinning rod and fished out at no more than 25 feet from the shore and got loads of tiddlers which got me a 4th place finish in the end. i went back down on monday night and fished the pier and ended up with 16 pollack (biggest just over 1lb), 18 coalfish to about the same size, 3 wee whiting, 4 wee dab and 9 codling to about 1lb 8ozs. so the pier would be a better bet man :P just keep an eye out for the wee seal pup. he hit one of my codling on the way back in and got my hopes up for a bit as i thought something massive had hit my fish on the way back in     sadly it was'nt a fish. just that wee guy lookin a free meal

Could be worth a chuck. Good swell last nite and no weed abt. That wind is to stay easterly so it should stir it up. Wrap up warm, good luck.

Thanks guys, appreciate the advise.

Al, I would fish the pier but you can rest assured it will be packed to the rafters with people. I like a bit of peace and quiet when im fishing. If there is no one on it- I will give it a throw.

Thanks again guys

If the pier is busy it might be worth your while heading round to the wee piers on the cushendall side, either at the yacht club or go down to dalriada avenue/limerick point, putting you into deeper water at least, the beach isnt fishing great the last few weeks to be honest.
checked a forecast earlier and the wind is to swing from the east during the night to westerly tommorrow.
Not the BigPhil from Irish Angler mag, I'm the original, i swear!!!!
