People: Me
1st Session Monday 14th
Duration: 4 pm to 6.30 pm
Weather: Calm and cold
Bait: lug and mack
Rigs: 2 hook flapper (1/0)
Results: 5 dab, small whiting
Busy session, lots of action on the rod plenty of nibbles, on first cast got a decent sized dab about 25 cms, did not have a ruler, biggest I’ve caught, do they get bigger in winter?
Thought they seemed to prefer the mack…Cold enough but I had thermal gear on. Boy when its dark, its dark at this time of year .
2nd Session Tuesday 15th
Duration: 7.30 am to 9.15 am
Weather: A bit drizzly and wind picking up.
Results: 3 dab, 1 codling
Not as busy a session as the nite before, wind was fresh and waves choppy and tide was dragging line to my right, so hard to detect bites or nibbles.
Got dab and then a double dab. Last cast got my first codling, small, maybe 15 cm. What a strange fish to handle, such a soft belly, but beautiful.
Not sure if I’ll brave the cold again so soon tho’
