#1 Post by spindlefist »

Hey all, my fixed spool finally packed it in, after takin a good soakin in a rock pool bout a month ago, i failed to clean it and it has thrown in the towel. So am looking to get myself a new one, but limited to bout 80 euros.... I fish mainly beach with my fixed spool, any recommendations?

Hi

Have just ordered one of these as I like the option of a baitrunner on or not. I have a mitchell fs6600 baitrunner which was only 35 euro I like it, so have bought a better one (I hope). Plus I prefer rear drag on a reel.

But here are Angling centre reels A lot of folk lioke the Penn Surfmaster 850

Had the Zeus and liked it but the anti reverse went in less than a year and apparently it's a pretty common problem. I dropped my Emcast evo and broke it the other day..but i will probably get another one, very nice reel in my opinion and well within your price range :) check ebay saw the sport for around 67 quid last night.

eric dont say that mate.. aghhh.. might try and change the order then..

coby.. they weren't a zeus they were an old okuma one and the spool cap on the shimano has gone. That's the second spool of the shimano's to go. I have ordered some additional spools for the shimano because its probably the best fixed spool I own.

ha ha.

i dont think youll be dissapointed. i searched online for a 70 and rang a few shops around the country and couldnt get one so settled for the 60. i think i paid about €65/70 for it. both came highly reccommended. i think the only real difference is the 70 has bigger spools.
the spare plastic spool isnt great but another guy on ebay sells the original grafite spool for about €10 delivered. might be worth getting one if you like to fill 2 spools.
let me know what you think.

if your not happy with it ill take it from ya for €50, cant be fairer than that

well I bought a gravuell zeus, put line on it, went to use it on sunday and again grinded to a halt. I wash and really look after all my reels. before you ask I didnt drop it either. I exchanged it for a penn slammer. seem solid

a new zeus to grind to a halt like that - that a fairly damning review - seems deserved better luck with the penn slammer
