Dunree, Co. Donegal

Fished Dunree last Sunday, weather none too good, very blustery. Fished on point on right hand side of the bay fishing back in towards the bay. First time fishing there this year and it didnt disappoint. Managed 2 pollack at around 2lb each, 3 flounder biggest at just over a pound and the usual plague of Dogfish (about 6 or 7). Spun sandeel accounted for the pollack, a combination of squid and mackerel fished on a flowing trace picked up the flounders. Dogfish were a nuisance all the same on the legered baits. Tried using peeler crab to avoid this but had no takers. Probably a bit early in the year yet, fishing here during the summer will usually provide a mixed bag of plaice, flounder, dab and coalfish over the sand with Pollack and wrasse over the rocky ground.
The spot itself does involve a bit of a walk, it fishes best from very low tide up, once it hits full tide, bites tend to dry up. I would add this is a spot I have yet to blank from. All fish lived to fight another day.
