Hi,
Im pretty new to this forum, ive been looking thru a few posts but was wondering if any of the Guys from the North West or Donegal area would give me a pointer in the right direction for digging some juicy Rag. I've tried the sea Wall at campsie and also this morning at Moville.
Is there any other tips i should be looking out for. I understand about digging a trench or a horse shoe shape, Looking for "blow holes" etc but cant seem to manage to get any decent ones. Managed to get a few decent Lug worms in Moville but thats it.
As i say any help hints tips etc are much appreciated and my lips are sealed if you want to PM me.
Much appreciated
Dale

Re: Digging Rag
Hey mate,
Rag don't make casts in the same way that lug do. They can usually be associated with mussel beds so look for an area with those and dig close to them.
Lug live in a u shaped hole with a cast at one end and a hole at the other. These can be quite deep.
It's hard work digging for either of these but can be very rewarding. If you can take a mate with you as you can share the digging and while one of you is digging the other can be spotting.
Also if you get any big rag that have a green ooze coming out you might want to put those back as they are ready to breed.
good luck

Re: Digging Rag
i dont know the area. as jammy said there.. its tough enough digging for rag and I mostly buy mine because of the hassle digging them. I have dug them in the past and only last week I dug the biggest rag I have ever seen. It was nearly 2 1/2 foot long and looked like a tremor..

Re: Digging Rag
Hi Dale I was alway lead to beleive that up around Ballykelly was very good for Rag, and as one of the previous posters said you'll not go far wrong digging into Mussel beds.
