Re: Daiwa 7HT Millionaire Mag
lovely reel i love it when the handle keeps coming off when your out on the beach had the spanners out ( not the first time) last night after landing a five pound bass, lucky to get him in at all, grand for a clean ground beach fishing not much cranking power through rocks or with a line full of weed casts very well though i must say, i think the turbo will do the same job for you as the mag though...

Re: Daiwa 7HT Millionaire Mag
Great casting reel and for the price nowadays hard to beat. But i now use ABU 6500 C3 CT reels as they are much better quality and so smooth you would hardly believe it. And they arn't much more expensive than the Daiwa.
BTW have had to replace the pinion gears on both my 7HT's as the weak brass couldn't put up with much abuse!

Re: Daiwa 7HT Millionaire Mag
They are a class reel but ive had problems with the spool release button not clicking back when i turn the handle to reingage the gears, it happens when sand gets into it and is a nightmare to clean but i still love them
Realy like the 525 mag extra too though and its as tough as old boots

Re: Daiwa 7HT Millionaire Mag
lets face it if you get sand in most reels they malfunction
had a cast with this reel and if i had the cash i,d buy one
when my 525 or sports mags stop working they might be cheaper by then

Re: Daiwa 7HT Millionaire Mag
Big fan of the 7hts but had problems with the clutch aswell on the turbo after sand getting in which was very disapointing. These reels are built to be used on the beach and i was surprised how softly it gave up, send it back to daiwa and they fixed it free of charge, but was never right again. As a result i changed to abu's maybe the 7htmag could convince me to go back to daiwa.
Long time no sea.

Re: Daiwa 7HT Millionaire Mag
Just get an original black one, you wont have any hassle. Ive 3 of them 1 is 8 year old and still flying baits out without issue. I also have 2 Turbos over a year old no issues with those either.

i have a turbo and a mag, i know a lot of lads who use the mags, with no problems. ive had mine for nearly a year now, its been completely abused and would probaly ring bernardos if it had fingers. its sleeps in a small dark cave aka my tackle box similar to fritzle's establishent but yet she serves me well and has never stopped running.

Re: Daiwa 7HT Millionaire Mag
I've used ABUs all my life and got a pair of Daiwa 7HT Mags recently.
They a the cats pyjamas, and a step forwards.
In a short time other makes will be making reels with during-the-cast brake adjustment. ABU have fallen behind Daiwa on this one.
The gears are the best IMO.
The drag is very smooth, but not strong enough for rock fishing/hauling in piles of weed, so the 7HT Mag is a clean to mixed ground reel that's at it's best on clean ground.
The Daiwa vs ABU argument stands up in theory, but when you have numb fingers in January and let the spool of whatever reel run on a tad fast for a half second too long, the the 7HT which has the drag on a bit harder for a shorter time, but during the most important part of the cast will win out IMO.
Againsts? The drag could be stronger, no ratchet.
