People: Me and My Dad (as usual)

Duration: 12.30 till 10.00pm

Tide: on the way in then out

Weather: windy at first then nice still 12'C in the car afterwards

Bait: Lug, rag, crab, mackeral, squid, & sandeel

Rigs: as many as possible

Results: Rockling, codling, whiting, a dogie

Report: Well fishing for me is like buses wait over 2months to get out and then get out twice in a week. Decided mid week to head out fishing the weekend. Plan hatched so headed into Southside on Saturday and decided to help them through the recession. Treat myself to a nice new slosh30. Couldnt wait till Sunday to try it out. So it was decided to head to Ennerilly. Go there set up, set up just left of the walk way down, not the best spot to fish keep getting snaged tried alot of different distances to see if we could find a qully or the edge of the kelp (no joy). After about an hour my dad got a plump rockling measure 28cm, After we fished here for almost three and a half hours we decided that enough was enough of losing rig, hooks etc. So we moved down about 120 yards casting every few to see what the ground was like found an area to fish. Set up here and fished away happy not be getting snagged on every retrive. once darkness fell we started cathing more fish. some good size whiting fell to our hooks. we were hoping for a bass but hey i havent caught one in about 10 years so the wait can continue. all in all a nice evening out thank god the weather was good as my dad wanted to fish today and i wanted to go Sunday so a little fib told that the weather was to turn again last night. but hey he enjoyed himself and caught more than me so he went home happy. I couldnt be happier with the slosh 30 have it on the rod i'm using with the reel down so was unable to unleash it to see how it went. I read on this site that they dont have breaks installed when you but them. So i out the larger of the two in just to be on the safe side. It would be an advantage to have big hands but i am able to use it and my hands are rather on the same side (no funny comments please). Next step is a pendulem cast. heres hoping i get out next weekend to.

Seanie, that was meant to say my hands are on the small side, should really read the post again before posting it.

fair play for sticking out a bumper session man and getting a result too :P we recently bought a load of ball weights that are great for finding gullys on beach marks. you just cast them out and allow a bit of slack line to pay out before flipping the bail arm over again. they always find the deepest spot before coming to rest
