Went to my favorite Dublin beach with Mark as its been a while since we were out when we got there the sea was calm no surf. We were there for 2 hours not a bite then as hw came things changed. I got a nice knock on my rod it seemed a nice fish it started to dive under where the rocks were i was convinced it was a nice Pollock i eventually got him to the surface a nice flash of silver a 52cm Bass my first with bait and my fish one in Dublin I cast back out to the same spot and told Mark to do the same as it looked a good spot, moments later I had another Bass 46cm. Mark was helping me unhook fish when i noticed hid rod going to one side i pushed him out of the way and told him to grab his rod, this fish decided to take Mark for a walk he struggled to get control of the fish the expression on his face was priceless it put up some fight just as he thought he had him the handle on his reel broke still he managed to get him close enough for me to grab him a 50cm Bass his first one nothing else after that except for the fish that was jumping in front of us it was like on a lake fishing for rainbows fish jumping everywhere. Some bloke came and wanted to take some photos of the fish another asked us if were going to sell them and best of all some Oriental guy came over to us and pointed out which fish he wanted i had to tell him 3 times he wasn't getting one even then he wouldn't give up so I politely told him no we had a great day it was the first time we got Bass together and it makes up for all the crappy blanks we had in Poolbeg this year.

well done, lovely bass and nice little report, seems as a few of our "new friends" are becoming even the more cheekier when one is polite, a sharply barked "me no english" is my new response, works surprisingly well

the beach there was littred with them the other night, ive never seen anything like it, hundreds of them , just sitting in behind the waves on the surface, not one bit scarred of a headlamp, jus chillin, would they take a bait?? nope!

crackin fish, ya gotta love it when it all comes together, I'd say yer mates face was a picture when his reel broke i'm sure he'd have been gutted if he'd lost it.

if there was hundreds bud and not taking bait , try some bread, they were mullet ,i can assure you ,there aint hundreds in the whole of dublin bay never mind one area

I've seen bass holding up like that before in wexford and not feeding, so it very possible they were bass..

mate its my local, i know the beach well, i know the difference between a bass and a mullet. i was able to wade up to 2 foot of themm they didnt seem to spook at all infact i'd almost say they where happy to see me.

there are a lot more than the odd bass in dublin bay its jammers with them. perhaps you just have to learn how to catch them, perhaps hundreds was an over statement but within 300 yards from myself and another angler there was two or three bass every 15 yards. no less then 5 feet out
