Need a bit of help

Hi lads. Just wondering if yous can explain a few things for me.

While reading through my sea angler and total sea fishing magazines, in the articles all you hear is sand bank, or gulley or etc.

What is a sandbank. What is a gulley. How do you tell where they are when you never see the sea bed at all.
You hear the articles saying, that they fished into the gulley because it was a holding spot for fish. Or if you fish close to the gulley and be patient you should get a bite.

Any help on these terms would be appreciated.

when you fish a beach go at low tide,you then can see depressions in the sand which can be food holding areas,or you might see channels that are worn into the sand, mabye where a stream flows into the sea,these are gulleys,sand banks are raised areas of sand with lower levels of sand inside them the tide tends to flow in behind them causing food particles to be uncovered and will be the first place the fish will come on a rising tide.

you will also see waves breaking on sandbanks in rough weather at low tide so aim infront or behind em as the fish usually feed one side or tuther
