What happened to the Conger????

Found this Conger while I was Wrasse fishing last week looked like It had been grabbed by the neck :shock: & half It's boady was missing.

what size was it?

could have been a seal,otter or another conger..a big one!!

looks fresh and if it was dragged ashore then good chance it was an otter

It was about 2.5 foot & washed up by a wave on to the rocks.

lobster might have got a hold of it and cut off what it could chew they do reside in the same kind of ground :wink:

I'd say it was an otter. Conger wasn't tasty enough ;) so only half is missing. I think that these marks are not from line but from otter's claws and teeth.

yup! quite a belly full for an otter! a seal would have pollished it off :).
deffo not net marks. it ate the gutless part! :idea:
species 2009, whiting :(, three beard rockling,.shore rockling, 5 beard rockling, flounder, lesser spotted dogfish,bullhuss, dab,bass(13), more whiting : pollock,poorcod,pouting, sea trout(the dodder!)brown trout,sea scorpion,mackerel, silver eel,

Cheers for repleys lads defo claw marks & bite mark on neck, I seen an otter there nine years ago but havent seem it since must be back the conger better watch out, I'll have to give them a shot before the otter gets them all :wink:
