Report
Met Shane and went to dig some lug, then drove upto a mark in the area.

Set up and sea was a little flat but we were hopeful ! :? after a couple of minor knocks on my rods , Shane was first in with a small flounder, then a while later he landed a small coalfish, and me having little knocks, but leaving in the hope it was gonna go bang at some stage, but it didnt then I struck and was in :D it put up a fight and I thought Bass? yea :D but alas got it to about 30 feet and it spat the hook !!  . Shane thought it may have been a trout :o heyho thats fishing.

Then a few minutes later Shane said I'm in and its different! well he was delighted to land his first Bass about 4lb, a nice looking fish not a monster but a Bass all the same. That got me taste buds going then with hopes now for me first Bass at fever pitch.

Alas it went very quiet, with not many bites. Shane left about 9.30 and I stayed on till 11.00, and was rewarded with a small flounder about 15 mins before I packed up, and Im still wondering how it managed to swallow a 4/0 loaded with crab and sandeel.

All in all an excellent night and congrat's to shane on breaking his N/W Bass duck.

I'm still smiling this morning :D . It's took me 4 years of trying to land a Bass in Sligo, I wouldn't care if he was 10cm's long( He was 52cm's),it's still better than any other bass i've caught in Wexford because I put so many hours into getting one.

Nice to meet ya Warren, I'm gald you got a fish at the death. Cheers for getting the pictures, I was that excited I would have never thought of it. I hope it doesn't take you as long to break your bass duck.

Cheers Davy he was only your fellas little brother but he'll do me. He was caught at about the same time in the tide that you caught your one and Yorkshireman got his. I think we've cracked it up here at last 8). We should get a gang of us to hit that mark I'm sure there is plenty more bass there.

Now that I've marked the bass off my list a shore caught Sligo tope is next on my list and I know just the spot. I just hope it doesn't take aslong this time.

Cheers
Shane

The killer bait was a plain old Sligo lug.
