The best venue you have ever fished!!!! Where is it?????????
Come on spill the beans. Whats the most successful occasion or venue which is the dogs bullocks!!!!!
fished st kilda about 16yrs ago when i was only getting into fishing ,no idea what i was doing and still had pollock two and three at a time up to 9lb on white feathers ! used strips of pollack for bait when bottom fishing and had dab 1lb+ ,never even tried for conger or ling and still kick myself about it .
Amazing place but next to impossible to get to cos it's bout 40 miles west of the outer heberdies ,the only reason i was there was cos a couple of divers pulled out of a week long charter .
Still dream of the place ,wonder what its like now ?

stephen brennan caught 54 ray in a five hour EFSA competition last year. they averaged 5-6lb with the occasional one up to 8 or 9lbs. that works out at about 300lbs of fish!

The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist.

Some 7 or 8 years ago, I went out with a charter from Kilrush to grounds known as 'The Bar'. This was a sandy patch some few miles off the mouth of the Shannon.
Well - an absolutely huge number of good sized fish were taken of many species. Most were fishing with mackeral but I used lug. Consequently I took a more varied catch than the others. I have never since taken such a great variety of good sized fish in a single session. There again I have never been back to 'The Bar'. Has any one else fished there ?

In 1999 or it could have been 2000, after the Irish open held on the wall in Monkstown. (crab was banned) I landed 21 cod over 5lbs with the best knocking on 10lbs in just over an hour from under the power lines. Ian Gold's dark glasses nearly fell off.
A few years ago I fished the black hole in Valencia Is while on Holiday. On float fished sandeel I had several pollock into double figures, using a carp rod, WOW! and to top that hauled a huge ballen up on a side of mackerel. A great spot.

It's got to be any of the Brandon beaches. There is just something mystical about the beaches, surrounded by mountains, rolling surf, and at times the bass fishing can be superb. Whilst the fish tend not to be massive (biggest I've had was a shade over 7lbs), when you hit the beach at the correct time it can produce lots of fish (best was 7 bass in less than two hours, ranging from 2.5 to 6lbs). There are of course other species to be had, ray are possible at times, with plenty of flounder, and unfortunately doggies can be present in good numbers. I've even had a baby stingray on Stradbally (about 5 or 6lbs).
And if the surf isn't running, you can head across to tralee bay and try for thornies!
Just love the place, and will keep going back again and again and again!

there were some fish weighing 2-4lb, but then there was some fish weighing 4-6lb, on average the fish were 5-6lb.

Smashing Rock fishing venue Co Clare
I was fishing for wrasse one time in 2002 and broke two light rods while fishing they were cheap telescopic rods but had a smashing day constantly pulling in wrasse I wont mention the venue as there are certain places you just want to keep to yourself the place is also teeming with pollack dogs conger and plenty of mackerel its a long walk and can be dangerous.............
