Maighdean Mara "Dory Hunt" 29/09/2009

#1 Post by The Austrian »

People:Sebastian, John, Noel, 3 more anglers (sorry, forgot their names ) and Martin

Duration:10-19

Tide:all stages

Weather:overcast but calm, sunny in the pm

Bait:joey's

Rigs:shads, sabikis, boat rigs

Results:Cod, Red Gurnard, John Dory, Mackerel, Pollock, Ling, Whiting, Scad, Pouting, male Cuckoo Wrasse, Lesser Spotted Dogfish.

Report:

Another very successful and most enjoyable outing around the Galway Bay, a bit slow at the beginning, Mackerel weren't really showing in numbers so we had to cruise around a bit to locate them but thanks to Kevin's excellent knowledge about the area full strings came on board soon enough.

Worth mentioning might be that the 3 John Dory's, the Cod and most of the Pollock were taken on shads or small jellies, all unbaited.

johndory.JPG

If anyone has more photos he might add them to the report when he has the time, was too busy with fishing so couldn't take more snaps :P

Look forward to meeting you all again soon, hope we can organise a little shore session too 8) really, I enjoyed the pleasure of your company and the craic and banter was mighty :P :D

Tight Lines until next time!
Martin.

thanks for all the comments lads, the trip was a very enjoyable one indeed, especially the comradeship between crew and skipper was second to none, everyone helping out and giving advice, that's what makes these memories last forever 8) :D

On another note, I just received a phone call from Kevin, he is on his way back from another successful expedition, they caught 15 different species today again, amongst them were 7 :!: John Dory, a Blonde Ray and a Tope for good measure

He has the Maighdean Mara available for Tuesday, 6/10/2009 and anyone interested is more than welcome to join.
7 seats more are up for grabs, so please post here: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=23987
