cork Blues

#1 Post by Gary Morton »

Vessel:Bass Hunter

Crew:Sean,myself

Duration:9 hrs

Tide:Slack,push

Weather:Great

Bait:mac,

Rigs:Shark,sabiki

Results:Coalies,cod,pollack,whiting, blue shark,macs,mini

With great reports coming in lately and Downings not to hot this year for the shark i decided to tackle the long haul south for a crack at the elusive sharks.
Launched at Aghada pier and headed to the mouth looking for a few macs but where very scarce and a quick chat to the local boat kingfisher we headed to a we spot of his and sure enough it was thick with them, he invited us to tag along to his spot for the shark as it was producing well lately.
Upon arriving quickly set up the dubby trail and gar rigs but none showed all day :(
Sean was 1st in to a small blue which was boated quickly but with his sore arm couldn,t get a good pic
i was just putting my flapper back into the water and the balloon took of and stopped missed so i taught and told sean to get a bait in quick as it might still be around ,as i retrived my rig out jumped this shark and nailed my bait reel screeming as he dived scared the be jesus out of me  some sight
after a spirited fight we boated my 1st blue

Happy at last
unfortunately that was the last action and we headed in to tackle the long spin home
a big thanks to Kingfisher and Dave for all your help, that fish has eluded me for a long time before today :D :D
