bray harbour,16-09-09

#1 Post by eyesreilly »

People:me

Duration:7pm-10pm

Tide:rising

Weather:breezy, cold

Bait:rag,mack,sandeel

Rigs:single hook clipped down, 2 hook flappers

Results:2 codling, 1 whiting, 1 eel

Report:The winters in   ,,,got some leftover bait from the next door neighbour and headed to Bray..No traffic on the M50 at 6pm     ,,,,,,,,whats the story :?: :?: . Reversed the car down the pier and set up at what was to become later on the only spot on the pier which the waves were breaking over  .It was cool and breezy so it was time to put back on the IMAX flotation suit and i was glad of it later on . No bites for a good while and then eventually got a small codling on a slow retrieve. Baits were being stripped and plenty of nibbles so there were fish there, albeit small. Got another codling, and a whiting and was considering packing in when i got the eel,,,he kept me there for another half hour. I tried to keep the eel away from the trace and got a pic , then shook him off the hook back over the side. The last time i got some here they destroyed my traces  Another few showers from the waves breaking and i packed up   .

Winter is creaping in all right eyes, but fair play for getting out and getting a few. The traffic or lack of on the M50/N11 is directly down to the recession i think.Ive been living in wicklow 5 years and have noticed a big difference in traffic volumes in the last year or so especialy in the evening.

that lack of traffic was due to the fact i was behind you doing 60 kph through the roadworks right down the middle of both lanes if you have to pay that toll you may aswell get your value for money

methinks the codling are the in fashion fish at the moment, taking over from the 12 month season whiting! :) yeah i too hope they get bigger. the last few bass trips i had were
hijacked by small codling at all distances everytime no mater how big the baits were!
good to get out dave.

Well done on the codling. Hopefully there will be some bigger ones about over the winter. Last winter was a diaster for cod fishing down south - I got only got two both no bigger than 30 cm.

I reckon its going to be another cold winter - this September has definitely felt a lot colder than last September. So much for global warming

I have noticed that in Cork too. A few months ago I had to go to DHL on the outskirts of the city on a Friday evening - I didn't get going until about 5 pm and thought I was going to run into horrendous traffic but instead there was very little traffic - I couldn't believe it - I was home within an hour
