seats available, specimen whitefish hunt, 11/9 Crosshaven

#1 Post by jw »

Apparently the bishops have told the farmers to all pray for settled weather and it
looks like He was listening.

There are tentative signs the weather will settle for next friday so i've provisionally booked
Joe Lynch's boat wreck hunter for Fri 11th to target big whitefish on the wrecks.

http://www.wreckhunter.ie/index.html

Please post here if you will be able to take a seat, the cost for the day is 650 euros

The Wreck Hunter is a new custom built Wildcat 107 Catamaran, licensed and insured for 12 passengers, so I'd reckon a crew of 10 would be the maximum.
Boat specs here.

gave the skipper of the boat joe lynch a ring and he says the trip is cancelled due
to unsuitable weather conditions. He says there is a forecast for 20 knot easterly winds.
Also says he is fairly confident the forecast won't change.

How can he be sure this far ahead what exactly the wind
will be like, also the forecast looks ok to me with my limited experience a light easterly breeze
of around 9 knots, but maybe im wrong

anyway what do you want to do now?

I agree, Bit early to make a call like that. I'm guessing a double booking or perhaps he is busy that day :?: It does look a little unpredictible though.

I just looked at the forecast and Friday & Saturday indeed looks bad in term of strength of the wind. As this is 7th week in a row this year for me of looking at the weather forecast. I would say it would not change much. So the skipper is probably right. I'm happy that I'm fishing in fresh water this weekend so hopefully wind would not affect me too bad. Anyway - let's hope that next Saturday will be less windy...

Spoke to Kevin MacGabhann this very moment, he has the Maigdan Mara available for 6-8 people this Friday, 3 guys are already booked, he starts from Spiddal at 9 for a whitefish trip, pollock, coalies, etc.
Forecast for the Galway/Connemara area is perfect, sunshine, light winds 3m/s. I definitely go for it if we can get a group organised.

I can highly recommend Kevin he is a great skipper.
