Another thing is that im on the hunt for Ray any type, just have a desire to catch one and i was wondering if anyone could recommend baits and rigs that get a bit of reaction from the ray.

Re: Galway fishing
if you want a ray head to clifden,i will pm you directions to a spot that i always get a ray or 2 any time i fish it,the best time on saturday to chance a ray would be between 14:00 and 18:30 and again from 20:30 to 00:30 it gets a bit quite around high tide but you still might get one
what i use is 3 hook mackerel feathers baited with frozen mackerel, the older the mackerel the better, put on a good chunk of mackerel, quarter or a half mackerel also got some on sand eel but mackerel is best
don't use grip leads use ordinary beach bomb weights 4 or 5 oz let the bait move around
you don't need a bit cast,50 foot or more is fine
no need to strike if you see a bite sit down and let them hook themselves, wait for a good thump on the rod or a slack line
if you follow all that you will have a great chance of a ray
if you don't want to head to clifden tell me the area you are staying as i know a few more marks along the coast
pm with a map on the way
