Braid knots!

#1 Post by wilky83 »

Hi i have recently started using 20 lb power pro braid, i have underfilled the spool its about 5 mm below the lip, i even took mr gilbeys tip about at the end of every session putting on a big plain lead casting it out and retreveing the line through my fingers, but still i get these small knots whcih really ruin my buzz of bass fishing, and all the time im thinking of the bass swimming aroud :( :( , and i cant cast out   , so any tips would be welcomed :D .

Frequently the cause of these knots is because after casting the first wrap of line on the spool is loose or lying partially across the spool face, to avoid this you should always manually close over the bail arm, check the spool face for crossings and pull the line tight before starting to reel in. Here's a quick video with Mike Ladle talking about braid and wind knots etc.

I did try to put you right in your last post before you bought this. I was telling you about the crystal fireline. You still get the odd knot but seldom. Maybe try some of this on another reel and see what you think although its pricey stuff.
