Tigger II, Cork Harbour, 06/08/2009

#1 Post by thescotsman »

People: me and wilky83

Duration: 18:30 -23:00

Tide: HW around 7 I think

Weather: calm, slight southerly breeze

Bait: fresh mack, frozen squid

Rigs: 3 hook flowing and animal traces

Results: mackerel, pollack, whiting, dabs, dogfish and a tub

Report: Making the most of the change in the weather, headed out with Kevin to see could we get him a couple more species for his list. Found some sprat leaping out of the water, but not a touch from lures or feathers underneath them, so no idea what was happening there. Headed out a bit further and picked up a few macks for bait. Anchored up on the bank so I could try for a blonde and Kevin could try for some other bits and pieces.
Kevin managed a dog, closely followed by a dab which was hooked in an orifice that wasn't a mouth. Think he had a couple more dogs and a dab or two, I got nothing on my ray trace. Did a bit of drifting then, Kevin picking up a nice little tub gurnard (not from your secret mark Pete!!). Then into the usual pack of whiting coming up in ones and twos.
Drifited a bit more to no avail, headed to the huss mark, picked up one doggie and spun for pollack picking up a few. Headed in as it was getting dark.
Roll on the weekend.
