Dodger Dunlaoighaire

#1 Post by dbrock »

People:Myself, eric (the fish kisser) And croppy boy

Duration:3pm to 8pm

Tide:rising

Weather:nice

Bait:mackerel, feathers

Rigs:tope rigs, mac feathers

Results:tope , macs whiting dogs

Report:
after meeting shane to do some casting on bray harbor, i seen the sea and hatched a wee plan to get out in the boat instead of the shore that night, so few phone calls later and away to viking tackle, to change the bait i got for the beach to macs,
picked up eric on the way and headed towards dunlaoighaire,
got to the boat and headed outwards for some macs, picked them up at bray and headed to the tope mark,
fishing was good with dogs and huss coming aboard pretty quick, then bang first tope run of the day for me, the tope dropped the bait twice and couldn resist the third time,, five mins later a nice tope of 26lb landed on board,,
straight back out and i hit another one this time i could feel it was a better fish,, after a good scrap we landed a nice 44lb tope,,(the scales went from 44 to 52lb to we just said 44 8) )

then eric was next onto a fish, and what a struggle did he have , wondering if he had got a porgie or something after been stripped twice finally after about 10 to 15 mins came a good size tope only to be hooked by the tail  a quick kiss and a photo seen the fish released,,, while he was fighting this fish fintan got a nice 9lb huss,
then i hit a beaut of a tope after a good struggle she bit through the 200lb mono at the side of the boat, with a little help from fintan   she was much bigger than the 44lb landed

then finally fintan managed to pop his tope cherry with a nice tope landed and a quick photo and on her was

all in all we landed six and lost about 10 to 12
they were very finicky

great day out, bootsie's super oger like power, tamed the tope in no time, never seen any simply lift a tope out of the water single handed and give it a cuddle, the minute head let go all hell broke loose :D also had the ian golds match measure on board today, let me tell you, accurate isnt the word, it was clear to see the tope where over the 45cm mark, never felt in doubt
