How do I attach shimmer eels and flutterworms ?

#1 Post by flynnboy »

Hi

I have bought for the first time some shimmer eels and flutterworms - how on earth do I mount/attach them to my hook/line :?

Thanks for any help

I had to google those to see what you were talking about! Far as I can tell, they're a variation on the jellyworm theme, so treat them as such. Hook into the head, thread up the shank and out again before you rech the gape of the hook. Job's a good'un.

Hi Tanglerat,

Thanks, but I don't quite follow :? Yes they are jellies. Hook into the head I understand but I don't quite get your meaning with the rest of it....... Could you treat me as a complete idiot and try again ? Am I simply putting the hook into the head and leaving it like that or am I supposed to push the hook further on in some way ? Sorry, never done this before.

Hi, what you need to do is thread the hook up through the worm like this http://www.traceace.com/Product%20Image ... 20hook.jpg
And then tie the hook to your line, hope this helps

^^^what Ian says^^^.

Indeed, if you're pollocking from a boat, don't be afraid to go up to 4/0 hooks. or 5/0.

I find it handier to have the hook tied to the line first, before jellying up.

The more I think about it the more questions I have, and again sorry for being a pain.

What about weights... how do I weight a jelly...... in front of, behind of... how ?

Thanks for all of your help :D

Flynnboy, I usually have my weight on first and then about 2 foot up the line i attach the lure. Try retrieving at different speeds and different depths to see what catchs, hope this helps
