Toberpatrick & Kilmichael

#1 Post by samo »

was down fishing this mark with a few mates last week. one of the lads went up to the rocks to try plugging for a while. he didnt get any but he found a load of bass heads, gutts and scales all over the rocks. they were pretty fresh as well probably from the night before. we fished from 4am to 11am on a rising tide with the best of bait and not one of us caught a bass. this time last year we were catching between 6 - 10 bass per session. and returning around 99% of the fish.

fished there last week in what i would call perfect bass conditions and not a bite.bar a couple of flounders, was there the week before and i was passed by a group of eastern europens nearly tripping over themselvs running down the beach for the rocks just before darkness fell. pity we dont get atlantic swells on the east coast, the fishing might be a bit better:wink:

If you suspect any angler is taking more than his two bass per 24 hours, then report it to your regional Fishery Board.

It's criminal.

species for 2011 (12)

best advice for catching species is girls dont like fishing and its hard to catch fish when you sell all your gear'

+ 1 ...
If you are on the way out, take car numbers and write them down with car type, pass them on too.
This helps the board officers decide if they have good cause to go down to inspect anglers, while they are at the road-head parking place.
I keep a notebook/pencil in the glove box for notes about small things, details of marks, bearings, etc, that I might forget when I get home, and being so handy, it also gets used for tracking dubious so-called anglers.
On one occasion I found out later that an officer spotted and warned characters in a van in a local town, based on the vehicle information got from the shore. In effect they had used up their "I'm ignorant of the rules, can I get off with a warning" excuses they might have had, well in advance of going back.

as i wrote in shore reports kilmicheal must have the biggest seal population on the east coast 9 seals fishing in the first cove to the left wont be a shrimp left dont mind fish might not be a bad thing if a few white sharks started coming in
there main diet is seal i think seals here dont have any predators maybe we could introduce some

samo i have fished kilmicheal and kilpatrick for the past 30 yrs and in that time never before have i seen 9 seals in the same spot they were the ones we could see just to the left. how many more were to the right of kilmicheal is anyones guess thats were the heads and scales were from id say. but i would also agree some people keep all they catch no matter what size or species i know i dont be long voicing my opinion if someone beside me trys to keep an undersize bass but these seals eat there own weight in fish 365 days of the year
