Any tips for Betra beach this weekend?

Anyone any good ideas????

not fishing well i hear,try lecanvey at night for dogs or huss,or old head for wrasse, pollock,and the odd mackerel.

Ive fished Berta a good bit, Its great for mack when they're in, Ive had countless dogs, a couple of thornies and I hear there is Huss. When ever Ive fished seaward my tackle and weights, even 5oz grippers end up back at my feet,swamped with weed. But if the conditions are right Im sure there would be an array of fish out there.

If you walk to the end of the beach there's a stoney area A. on my map where you can get mack by the hundred in the evening, doesn't seem too dependant on the tide just depends if they're in, they'll probably know in any of the 2 tackle shops in westport. If you can get a decent cast in B. over what looks like a sort of whirlpool there's plenty of dogs and Ive had two thornies in one session here. Then from C. there's just a lot of Dogs but Im sure theres the possibility of flats. Can be a joy to fish on this side of the fish, Dead calm, there's certainly a rip in there you should have decent grippers, Ive only ever used two hook flappers with mack. Im sure some of the Mayo lads here can inform you better. Lecanvey for me has always been dogs,dogs with an occasional pollock. It can be hard to get fresh bait but you could try digging in the mud
flats in murrisk but its very stoney and you might only get 5 lug in an hour and have sore back to boot.

Old Head could be worth a shot, Ive only been after mack there but some good reports on it posted here before.
