Fish in Courtmacsherry

#1 Post by Dean »

Hi guys,

i will be going to Courtmacsherry next week for a few days. Anyone know any good fishing spots in Courtmac?
Haven't fished there before but from the articles i was reading, it's seems to be a good fishing area. Would love to try for Bass but any type of fish would be good.
Just want to have a good few days of fishing.
If anyone knows any good spots i would appreciate your help.
Don't really know Courtmacsherry very well so don't really know where to fish.

Thanks
Dean.

head all the way down to where the hotel(cant think of the name at the mo) is facing the bay
you can dig lug here at low water, then if you drive on down to the boatclubhouse car park you can fish along the coast here from the rocks, great for bass or walk along the little forest pathway which runs parallel to the coast with open gaps to the waters edge or go to the end of the walkway to fish from the rock.
this is the hotel and will lead you to the area to fish http://www.courtmacsherryhotel.ie/
species 2009, whiting :(, three beard rockling,.shore rockling, 5 beard rockling, flounder, lesser spotted dogfish,bullhuss, dab,bass(13), more whiting : pollock,poorcod,pouting, sea trout(the dodder!)brown trout,sea scorpion,mackerel, silver eel,
topknot:), cod, conger, corkwing wrasse, smooth hound.

think I posted some specifics about courtmac here last year, have a search

you can walk out past the hotel , through the woods to a fairly good spot for mackeral and pollack, seen a garfish out there too.

there is a pier on the opposite side of the bay from the hotel / lifeboat , which has been a great spot for bass and bream in recent years, with the odd flatfish too, plenty of lug over there too.

Mullet further inland, nearer the town / bridge.

Never had any joy on the beach in front of the hotel, but good fishing at various tide (think mostly low, strangely) all around there.

There's a beach just over the hill from Courtmac village that you'll look at and want to fish, looks spot on,...... don't bother !!

Would love to be down there this weekend, good pubs and craic.

good luck
