Tying braid to mono

#1 Post by Dawsey »

Hey folks,

I am going to be filling an okuma magnetix with backing mono then 20lb braid. Just wondering what knot to use to join them and how much mono and what dia would be best suited for the job.

Cheers
Jonny

Dawsey if this is your first casting multi; i would recommend filling it first with mono, when you get the hang of the casting, then you could put the braid on. for if you birdie it with braid on it will be a nightmare to get out, so i would stick to the mono untill you get the feel of the multi; and keep the mag's set at low to start off with. all the best!!!!

hi dawsey, have the okuma magnetix sl20,was my first multi, would agree with fishermannum put mono on first, you WILL get birdies when you start, and a braid birdie is a f**king nightmare!!spent an hour getting one out   set the mags low,and start slow, get the feel of it first, and dont try to night cast until you feel resonably confident!but when your confident you will find there a brilliant reel!
