Donaghadee pier, Co Down, 26/07/09

Rigs:3 hook flapper, 3 boom bling

Results: 2 doggies, 1 codling (new species )




Report:

Arrived down and had the whole pier to myself ( a rarity at this time of year)

Set up the first rod with a 3 hook flapper and cast midway between the 2 piers, and put a 3 hook boom rig on the second rod and fished it down the wall in the hope of a few mini species

All was quiet for the first hour, apart from numerous crab knocks, and bottom hooks coming in stripped every time , and then i got into a decent sized doggie, followed by another smaller one about 30 mins later.

I was going to pack up about 2330, when i got a knock on the second rod and in came a 20cm codling. I decided to give it another wee while, but after 30 mins of watching the rod tips flick about wildly in the wind, and with the thought of work the next day, I called it a night

No great numbers of fish, but a good night out all the same

Nice going man, nice to see there is a few fish about the Dee, haven't fished it this summer yet, do you know if the wrasse are there in big numbers as per usual?

We were there last Sunday morning.

Lots of wee wrasse bites. Daniel got one good sized Ballen.

Not as many as this time last year.

I have yet to see a Wrasse caught at the Dee this year (nevermind catch one myself ), but a few guys on the board have had good sessions with them
