Advice on moorings in Waterford

#1 Post by ntjones »

Hi all,
I'm new to this forum and I come in search of advice from the people that know.
So I've had boats for a couple of years and I've had a constant problem with moorings and trying to find a suitable place to leave the boat on the water for the summer.
I live in Clonmel Co Tipperary, so I would like to try and find somewhere in Waterford where we could leave the boat in the water and not have any worries about the boat braking it's mooring or the engine being robbed
Previously we I've had the boat in the granny marina in Waterford city, it was really easy to get to an no hassle involved in taking the boat out, but they charge 600 euro for the year and it was a 20 minute jaunt out of the estuary.
I have tried Bunmahon, but I have heard some horror stories from the locals about engines being robbed so that has put me off,
I have friends that have their boats in the gold coast in Dungarvan so that might also be an option,
So I just wondering if anybody could possible suggest anywhere else that might be suitable for us.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, and thanks in advance

Try passage east or cheekpoint not far from the open sea there are moorings in Tramore but you would have to check your boat each day as it is not safe and very open to southeast wind one boat lost each year by not keeping in top of the weather.
let me know how you get on Blue shark competition for small boats out of Dunmore 5 th sept
