roney point,25 july

#1 Post by scotty »

Tried roney point and cahore by the castle today again , no bass again and no sign of anything apart from a single mackerel, tried bait and lurers with me and my son, talked with a nice old lad that was fishing roney and he said he caught 3 bass there this week but he also blanked there today  , seen 5 other lads fishing cahore with no results, the water to me looked to milky for lures but for some reason the lads on the site seem to catch them when the water is poor with the wrong winds, tides, time, lashing rain for days, it dont matter to them as they must have the midas touch unlike me  , i go when its supposed to be right tides times and conditions and still nowt, anybody interested in knitting classes as im s*** hot at it  , even a guy mackerel fishing today caught a bass with a poxy mepps in poolbeg! fair play to him

Hi Scotty, dont give up!!!, the old guy fishing roney point probably goes there every day and if you put the hours in it'll pay off. I was on Cahore pier today with little results, best fish were pouting when i was looking for wrasse. Also got some small codling and whiting. Conditions werent great, cloudy water and weed. You seem to be doing things right, watching tides, conditions etc, Keep it up and the one time you catch that bass will keep you going in the lean times, Dave

hey scotty dont give up on Roney point had some of my best bass fishing from that beach. found it fishes best on a flooding night tide when there is a bit of a roll on the sea. lug is the best bait and you want to be using the big black ones which can be a b astard to dig but worth the effort. ye just want to be lobbing it out as well 5 to 15 yards will put ye on to the bass. keep you head lamp beam out of the water were your fishin as well i think it spooks them.
Wish list for 2015: sword tail, black Molly, horny cobbler
