Rarely in here gents but was wondering if anyone heard of a HUGE Monkfish/Anglerfish taken in Tramore bay recently?

un -confirmed reports that it was 50+ kilo's is it even possible they go that big?

Was it a Monk or an angler?

Not 100% Pete, I said surely not a Monk but he reckons it was, he may think they are 1 and the same? I'm correct in saying they are not?

Hope to find out more info over the weekend. Will keep ye posted.

It was an Angler fish but also called monk fish in the trade .
Taken in a net of the metal man full report on Rinnashark sac web site

Mr Hartley’s trawler Maid Maggie captured the giant monkfish

this man also runs a fish stall,and had the 55lb fish with him at the farmers market in kilkenny 2 weeks ago,fantastic to see a fish that size,there was also a photo of the fish in the kilkenny people the week after,dezzer...............
