Smock / Jacket
After standing in a tropical storm and non stop rain for 3 hours. I know I should have went home but if I didnt go fishing everytime it rained I wouldn't go fishing. My smock was soaked right through!
On to my question 'is there a smock out there that doesn't leak?'
I have heard stories about Imax. Anyfish, Titan

Re: Smock / Jacket
I think you will find many topics on a search.
I use a Greys Apollo smock and have never had a problem with leaking. It's getting old now and I should have taken better care of the zips though. A rub of vaselene every now and then would have eliminated the problems.

Re: Smock / Jacket
I see that it is quite a hot topic amongst the forums. I think the floatation jacket is hard to beat though, Must be all the fish oil and gunk i rub into it when wiping my hands.

Re: Smock / Jacket
I bought a Greys Apollo smock a few weeks back third time out in very heavy rain for about 2 hours i was soaked not very good going to take it back.
My mate that was with me has an Imax smock he has had it for a few years now it is still 100% waterproof I think I am going to try and change mine for the Imax one.

Strange one that. I know they upgraded to Apollo II or something like that. Mine is the older version. Is the newer version as good as the old? Anybody got the newer type recently?

Re: Smock / Jacket
The only smock that will keep you dry in a downpour is a pvc one as used by the commerical guys. I have a Fishing Xtreme one but Guy Cotton and others also make them.

Re: Smock / Jacket
Took My Greys Apollo back today and got it exchanged for the Imax one the guy in the shop said he has had few of them back with the same problem.
As has been said the older ones seem to be better and don't leak like the new ones which are being made in a different country

I have the Imax High Performance one which i rate as being the best out there at the minute, I've had them all!
Just ordered a second one now for 40stg from Torbay Angling! Usually 70stg.
Incredible value and top class smock.

you could always just spray it down with fabsil to waterproof it saves spending money on a new smock!
